Shuozhou City is located in the northern part of Shanxi Province, outside the Yanmen Pass. It is an important energy base and a cultural city on the border of northern Shanxi. The total area of the city is 10700 square kilometers, with 2 districts (Shuocheng District, Pinglu District) and 4 counties (Shanyin County, Ying County, Youyu County, Huairen City) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 1.5903 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 142.03 billion yuan.
Shuozhou is a national garden city and the best green ecological tourism city in China. It is known as the "oasis on the frontier" and the birthplace of the Youyu spirit. It is also an important energy base and modern agricultural demonstration zone in Shanxi Province.
