Lvliang City is located in the western part of Shanxi Province, in the middle of the Lvliang Mountains. It is a revolutionary old area, a resource rich area, and a development new area. The total area of the city is 21000 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 1 district (Lishi District), 2 cities (Xiaoyi City, Fenyang City), 10 counties (Wenshui County, Jiaocheng County, Xing County, Lin County, Liulin County, Shilou County, Lan County, Fangshan County, Zhongyang County, Jiaokou County), and a permanent population of 3.3747 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 241.89 billion yuan.
Luliang is a famous old revolutionary base area and resource rich area in China, known as "Red Luliang", "Hometown of Red Dates", and "City of Baijiu". It is the main battlefield of the Red Army's Eastern Expedition, the capital of the Shanxi Suiyuan Border Region, and an important energy base and advantageous area of characteristic agricultural products in Shanxi Province.
