Overview of Jinzhong City
Jinzhong City is located in the central part of Shanxi Province, in the eastern part of the Taiyuan Basin. It is a national historical and cultural city with a history of over 2800 years. The total area of the city is 16400 square kilometers, with 2 districts (Yuci District, Taigu District), 1 city (Jiexiu City), and 8 counties (Qi County, Pingyao County, Lingshi County, Shouyang County, Xiyang County, Heshun County, Zuoquan County, Yushe County) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 3.3795 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 211.23 billion yuan.
Jinzhong is the birthplace of Jin merchant culture and the location of the world cultural heritage Pingyao Ancient City. It is known as the "hometown of Jin merchants" and the cradle of China's financial industry. It is also an important modern agricultural base and emerging industrial city in Shanxi Province.
