Changzhi City is located in the southeastern part of Shanxi Province, in the Shangdang Basin between Taihang Mountains and Taiyue Mountains. It is a sub central city in Shanxi Province. The total area of the city is 13955 square kilometers, with 4 districts (Luzhou District, Shangdang District, Tunliu District, Lucheng District), 8 counties (Xiangyuan County, Pingshun County, Licheng County, Huguan County, Changzi County, Wuxiang County, Qin County, Qinyuan County), and a permanent population of 3.1809 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 280.48 billion yuan.
Changzhi, formerly known as "Shangdang", is a national historical and cultural city and an excellent tourist city in China. It is known as the "backbone of the world" and the "party with heaven". It is a famous revolutionary old area and an important energy and heavy chemical industry base and modern agriculture demonstration area in Shanxi Province.
