Overview of Tongliao City
Tongliao City is located in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, at the western end of the Songliao Plain, and is an important regional center city in the eastern part of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The total area of the city is 59500 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 1 district (Keerqin District), 1 city (Holingol City), 5 counties (Kailu County, Kulun Banner, Naiman Banner, Zhalute Banner, Keerqin Left Middle Banner, Keerqin Left Rear Banner), and a permanent population of 2.853 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 1412.6 billion yuan.
Tongliao is an important national commodity grain base and livestock production base, known as the "granary of Inner Mongolia" and "hometown of yellow cattle". It is the birthplace of Keerqin culture and an important energy base and transportation hub in Northeast China.
