Panjin City is located in the southwest of Liaoning Province, on the north bank of Liaodong Bay in the Bohai Sea, and is a city at the mouth of the Liaohe River. The total area of the city is 4071 square kilometers, with 3 districts (Shuangtaizi District, Xinglongtai District, Dawa District) and 1 county (Panshan County) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 1.389 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 139.42 billion yuan.
Panjin is an important national petrochemical base and high-quality rice production base, known as the "capital of wetlands" and "land of fish and rice". It is the world's largest coastal reed wetland and a national demonstration city for ecological civilization construction. It is also an important node city in the Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt.
