Liaoyang City is located in the central part of Liaoning Province and is one of the oldest cities in Northeast China, with a history of over 2400 years. The total area of the city is 4744 square kilometers, with 5 districts (Baita District, Wensheng District, Hongwei District, Gongchangling District, Taizihe District), 1 county (Liaoyang County), and 1 county-level city (Dengta City) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 1.732 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 93.78 billion yuan.
Liaoyang is a national historical and cultural city and an important petrochemical industry base, known as the "Number One City in Northeast China" and "Petrochemical City". It is a sub center city of Shenyang Modern Urban Circle and an important equipment manufacturing and agricultural product processing base in Liaoning Province.
