Huludao City is located in the southwest of Liaoning Province, at the throat of the Liaoxi Corridor, and is an important coastal open city in Northeast China. The total area of the city is 10400 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 3 districts (Lianshan District, Longgang District, Nanpiao District), 2 counties (Suizhong County, Jianchang County), and 1 county-level city (Xingcheng City), with a permanent population of 2.434 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 87.01 billion yuan.
Huludao is an important energy base and coastal tourist city in China, known as the "first city outside the Great Wall" and "pearl of Bohai Sea". It is the "western gateway" from Northeast China to North China and an important part of the Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt.
