Overview of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture
Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture is located in the eastern part of Jilin Province, at the border of China, Russia, and North Korea. It is the only Korean autonomous prefecture in China and the largest Korean ethnic settlement. The total area of the state is 43300 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 6 cities and 2 counties (Yanji City, Tumen City, Dunhua City, Hunchun City, Longjing City, Helong City, Wangqing County, Antu County), and a permanent population of 1.942 million people (2022 data), of which the Korean ethnic group accounts for 36.4%. In 2022, the gross domestic product of the entire state reached 90.16 billion yuan.
Yanbian Prefecture is an important node of the national "the Belt and Road" construction and the "window" of the Changjitu development and opening pilot area. It is known as the "hometown of singing and dancing" and "hometown of football". It is an important gateway to the opening up of northeast China and a national ecological demonstration area.
