Liaoyuan City is located in the central southern part of Jilin Province, in the transitional zone between the Changbai Mountains and the Songliao Plain. It is an important industrial city in Jilin Province. The total area of the city is 5140 square kilometers, with 2 districts (Longshan District, Xi'an District) and 2 counties (Dongfeng County, Dongliao County) under its jurisdiction, and a permanent population of 992000 people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 42.98 billion yuan.
Liaoyuan is an important resource-based city and sock production base in China, known as the "Sock Capital of China" and the "Hometown of Sika Deer". It is also an important textile industry base and agricultural product processing base in Northeast China, and an important node city in Jilin Province's "One Main, Six Doubles" high-quality development strategy.
