Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province, a sub provincial city, and one of the central cities in Northeast China. The total area of the city is 24744 square kilometers, with 7 districts (Nanguan District, Kuancheng District, Chaoyang District, Erdao District, Lvyuan District, Shuangyang District, Jiutai District), 3 counties (Nongan County, Dehui City, Yushu City), and 1 national level new district (Changchun New District) under its jurisdiction. The permanent population is 9.0872 million (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 674.46 billion yuan.
Changchun is an important old industrial base and commodity grain production base in China, known as the "Automobile City," "Film City," and "Science, Education, and Culture City." It is the location of China FAW Group and Changchun Film Studio, as well as one of the four major garden cities in China.
