Jixi City is located in the southeast of Heilongjiang Province, named after its location at the western foot of Jiguan Mountain. It is an important industrial city and coal production base in Heilongjiang Province. The total area of the city is 22500 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 6 municipal districts (Jiguan District, Hengshan District, Didao District, Lishu District, Chengzihe District, Mashan District), 2 county-level cities (Mishan City, Hulin City), and 1 county (Jidong County), with a permanent population of 1.502 million people (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city reached 60.35 billion yuan.
Jixi is an important energy industry base and grain production base in China, known as the "Coal City", "Spring City of the North", and "Ecotourism City". It is a regional central city in southeastern Heilongjiang Province.
