Handan City is located in the southern part of Hebei Province, the third largest city in Hebei Province, a national historical and cultural city, and the central city of the border area between Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong, and Henan provinces. The total area of the city is 12000 square kilometers, with jurisdiction over 6 districts (Hanshan District, Congtai District, Fuxing District, Fengfeng Mining Area, Feixiang District, Yongnian District), 11 counties (Linzhang County, Cheng'an County, Daming County, Shexian County, Cixian County, Qiu County, Jize County, Guangping County, Guantao County, Wei County, Quzhou County) and 1 county-level city (Wu'an City), with a permanent population of 9.367 million (2022 data). In 2022, the total regional GDP of the city will reach 434.63 billion yuan, with steel, equipment manufacturing, modern logistics, and cultural tourism as the leading industries in the economy.
Handan is a national garden city and an excellent tourist city in China, with a history of over 3100 years. During the Warring States period, it was the capital city of Zhao and is known as the "capital of idioms and allusions" and the "hometown of Tai Chi".
